Frijns was then able to catch and pass Sam Bird to take 2nd, but it seemed he was unable to match the pace of Sørensen in front of him, until disaster struck for race leader Sørensen on lap 10, when his car developed mechanical problems, causing him to enter the pits and retire. Frijns was able to pull out a healthy lead ahead of Bird, and went on to win the race.
After what must have been a frustrating weekend for Pic, he was able to show better pace after the pitstops, passing Alexander Rossi for 4th, before catching Kevin Korjus to take 3rd, and a podium finish. Jules Bianchi continued to have a bad weekend, following his disqualification on Saturday, as he had to start from the pitlane when his car failed to start for the warm-up lap, and was subsequently handed a drive-through penalty for having his mechanics on track when the warm-up lap had begun. Nick Yelloly was also handed a 20 second penalty post-race for making a pitstop outside the allotted window.
